All-on-5 develops the All-on-4 concept by supporting the full-arch fixed prosthesis on five implants instead of four. The fifth implant is usually placed in the centre of the jaw, spreading chewing load more evenly and reducing the load carried by any single implant.
The method suits patients with enough bone for a fifth implant who want a greater margin of strength — for example with a strong bite or night-time tooth grinding.
Who All-on-5 suits
- An edentulous jaw with bone volume sufficient for five implants.
- A heavy chewing load or bruxism.
- A wish to distribute load more evenly and add structural reserve.
- The upper jaw, where bone is softer than in the lower jaw.
Materials and fabrication
We use titanium implants and a temporary PMMA prosthesis fitted straight after surgery. The final prosthesis is made from zirconia. A framework with five support points is stiffer, which reduces flexing of the prosthesis and the risk of screws loosening.
Treatment steps
- Diagnostics. 3D imaging, assessment of bone volume and gum condition.
- Treatment plan. We determine implant number and position and agree the schedule.
- Surgical stage. Five implants are placed; unsalvageable teeth can be removed at the same visit.
- Temporary prosthesis. Lets you eat normally during healing.
- Healing. Osseointegration takes 3–6 months.
- Final prosthesis. Made from individual impressions.

Care and durability
Clean the prosthesis and the area around the implants thoroughly every day using an interdental brush and water flosser. Visit the hygienist twice a year and the dentist once a year, who will assess bone levels around the implants and screw tension. Correct care is the main condition for implants lasting.
